Maszatos kis kínai suhanc volt Csun, de nem maszatosabb a többi kis kínai suhancnál. Ellenkezőleg, valamivel tisztább volt. Mert Csunnak az anyja keresztény nő volt. És a kereszténység Kínában alkalomadtán való mosakodást jelent.
Anyjának a házacskája ott állott a Petang közelében. Nagy fehér templom a Petang, körülötte sürün, kicsiny házak tömege, amelyekben csupa keresztény lakik. Olyan, mint valami büszke fehér madár, amelynek hószin tollazata alatt szürke kis fiókák oltalmat keresnek.
Láttára egyszer egy misszionárius lendületes beszédre lelkesült, amelyben így szólt a kínaiakhoz:
- Ez a templom olyan, akár egy fehér hattyu, s ti csúf barna hernyók vagytok még mindannyian, de tartsatok ki állhatatosan az igaz hit mellett, s akkor egyszer ti is mint hattyuk szálltok az égbe
