Komárom nevét hallván, a leginkább Lilla és Csokonai s természetesen a nagy mesemondó, Jókai Mór alakja jut az irodalomkedvelő ember eszébe. Kevésbé köztudott, hogy megfordult a városban Móricz Zsigmond is, a régi magyar literatúra nagy alakjai közül pedig Baróti Szabó Dávid és Péczeli József. A hagyományébresztés szándékával szól Szénássy Zoltán a szellemnek azokról a munkásairól is, akiknek arcképe a mai magyar irodalmi köztudatban kissé ugyan megfakult, ám emlékük méltó a felidézésre (Kultsár István, Katona Mihály, Hetényi János). Portrét rajzol a három Beöthyről - Zsigmondról, Lászlóról, Zsoltról -, Takáts Sándor történészről, Szinnyei Józsefről, a legnagyobb magyar bibliográfusról, a két háború közötti Komárom magyar szellemi életének vezetőiről: Alapy Gyuláról és Baranyai Józsefről. Szénássy Zoltán hagyományőrző, ügyszeretetre valló "irodalomtörténeti topográfiáját" - melyet különösen az ifjúságnak ajánlunk figyelmébe - gazdag képanyag egészíti ki.
